ELVIRA, Iowa (KWQC) - Traffic slows at 380th and 220th in Elvira, where an intricate veterans mural bearing “Remember Their Sacrifice” has become the town’s new centerpiece.

Emblazoned with every service branch emblem and personal mementos of the fallen, the new mural is turning heads—and stirring reflection—after a 12‑day sprint by a local artist.

Judy Jansen, the owner of the property at the corner of 380th Avenue and 220th Street, said the piece of art is personal for her, and she hopes people look and reflect when they come across it.

“I think that they need to realize just how much their freedom is worth to them when they see this mural, and they need to be thankful for their freedom,” Jansen said.
