Chris Johnson remembers when the first day of basketball practice served as the first true glimpse at what talent he’d have at his disposal for the upcoming season. Now in his 27th season at the helm of the Homestead boys team, Johnson explained that the summer training gives him a good idea of what to expect.
“There is always the possibility that there’s some kid walking the halls that comes to school ready to put forth the effort, but in the summertime we usually don’t put much in,” Johnson said. “We just go out and play. Hopefully we can learn from what we did this summer and then try to figure out what we need to finesse from the summer, make it better, and tweak the things we did wrong and do it the right way.”
