ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

A mother and father are facing several charges related to child abuse and abandonment after Albuquerque police responded to an unsupervised child.

Officers responded to the area of Purple Fringe and Spring streets in southwest Albuquerque after a child was seen running around in a dirty diaper. The child was found to not be wearing pants, shoes or socks, according to court documents.

Police found the child, who was found with scratches scattered across their legs and ankles. Dried blood was also found on the child's feet. The child was placed inside a patrol vehicle to warm up.
