A social media influencer has been fined hundreds of dollars after illegally starting a fire in a remote area of a World Heritage island with the act caught on video.

Cameras captured the young woman building a fire from a sack of kindling before lighting it on K’gari – formerly Fraser Island.

Authorities dealt her an $834 fine for the fire, as blazes on the island are strictly prohibited outside of wildlife service-provided fire rings at two camping points, regardless of fire bans.

The woman also copped a warning for using a drone to record a video above a camping area, where drone use is also prohibited.

Senior Ranger Chad Hoult had a stern warning for content creators that they are not exempt from standing rules.
