ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Hopes were high in Arkadelphia last week as students from Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University waited to see if ESPN’s College GameDay would spotlight their rivalry, the Battle of the Ravine.
“I was pretty on edge,” said Ouachita Baptist student Jesse Ryman. “I was always checking my phone, checking College GameDay, checking Pat McAfee.”
Students from both campuses said they spent the weekend checking social media, waiting for ESPN to announce the location of next week’s show.
“Some people were just on Twitter all day and night, just hoping they would announce where they were going,” said OBU student Cole Shipp.
But those hopes came to a halt Sunday when ESPN announced the show would head to Notre Dame vs. Pittsburgh instead.
