NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - WSMV4’s own Dan Thomas received a quilt of Valor on Monday.

He received the quilt in Hendersonville at Indian Lake Peninsula Church for his service in the Air Force.

During Dan’s time in the Air Force, he briefed pilots on weather conditions in the Middle East and even served as a captain.

The quilt itself is considered an award and known as a token of gratitude to service members.

Several other veterans received a quilt alongside Dan during the ceremony.

Dan said Minerva Arnold and Deborah Flowers put the quilt together. Arnold started working on the quilt in June. At the ceremony, Arnold’s sister told Dan that she’s always doing this.
