TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A special event hit the ice running to raise money and awareness for the Candle Lighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern Arizona.

Earlier today, the Tucson Roadrunners, Gadabout Salon-Spas and Arby's Cares transformed hockey and haircuts into hope for families facing the challenges of childhood cancer.

Candlelighter's kids had the opportunity to take charge by trimming, coloring and even shaving the heads of Roadrunners players.

"To see these kids, and the players, all have smiles on their faces. It's really a chance for them to just kind of escape what it is they have been enduring, whatever length of time it is," Vice President of Operations Jami Salyers said.
