The Philadelphia Phillies have had one of the best pitching staffs in baseball for the last few seasons. But the rotation might be set to lose a piece in free agency. Star pitcher Ranger Suárez is hitting the market, and he's likely going to sign with a new team this winter.
The Phillies have a top prospect, Andrew Painter, who can take Suarez's spot on the staff. Philadelphia will likely chase a new deal with Kyle Schwarber, which might keep them from aggressively pursuing Suárez.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post recently projected Suárez would sign a massive five-year, $135 million deal in free agency this winter, which would almost certainly be too rich for the Phillies' liking.
