MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison native and Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin was named the National League Rookie of the Year on Monday.

The 24-year-old hit .274 with 19 home runs and 80 RBIs in the 2025 regular season.

Baldwin was drafted by the Braves in 2022 after playing college baseball at Missouri State.

Baldwin beat out Cubs pitcher Cade Horton (2nd) and Brewers third basement Caleb Durbin (3rd) for the NL honor.

Oakland Athletics first basement Nick Kurtz was named the American League Rookie of the Year.

The winners were chosen by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
