CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — As heavy snow fell across the region Monday, crews around Harrison County spent the afternoon and evening responding to a raft of wrecks around the area.

That includes one on Route 50 in Clarksburg near the closed 2nd Street Downtown exit. One vehicle hit the barrier on the north side of the road westbound around 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.

There's no word yet on whether or not anyone was injured in that wreck, but traffic resumed shortly afterwards.

Fire department officials said that taking extra care will help avoid incidents like these in the future.

"It tends to sneak up on everybody, especially this one, because the forecast wasn't really calling for this much snow. People try to put off getting new tires and servicing their vehicle for the winter weather
