AMSTERDAM — A 15 mph school speed limit is proposed on Julia Street after fast-moving traffic on the road leading to the entrance to Marie Curie Elementary School was recently observed.

Amsterdam Deputy Mayor and 4th Ward Alderman Christopher Carpenter estimated cars were traveling at 35 to 40 mph on Julia Street when he was there two weeks ago amid arrivals at the school and as city crews worked to repair a water main break on the road.
