STEELE, ND (KXNET) — Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. Those diagnosed with it, have to live with it for the rest of their lives. For two Wolves running backs at Kidder County High School, they didn't let it stop them, as they set back-to-back rushing records at their school.

Mason Whitman is a three-sport athlete at Kidder County High School, where he just finished his senior season of football. He's been playing since he was eight years old, and has always loved it for multiple reasons.

"Just like, how the team comes together and everything, and the community cheering you on, and the coaching," he said.

This past season, he broke Kidder County High School's single-season rushing record by more than 300 yards. When asked how he did it, he kept the answer simple.
