GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Beyond the game itself, thousands of people at Lambeau Field paid tribute to those defending our country.

The annual ‘Salute to Service’ game took time to honor both veterans and active military members before the game and at halftime.

On the eve of Veterans’ Day, the Green Bay Packers hosted their ‘Salute to Service’ game.

To kick off the celebration of our troops, five gold star families were honored at midfield during pregame, standing before thousands of fans.

They were joined by U.S. Army veteran Chad Wessel as part of ‘Operation Fan Mail.’

“We are actually here to celebrate him being in the service. He was diagnosed with ALS, and we are just enjoying life to the fullest right now.”
