A 22-year-old Georgia woman is facing murder and child cruelty charges after her seven-month-old infant died after being left inside a hot car at the dealership where she worked on a scorching day in October.
Nyla Simmons was arrested on November 3rd and is currently being held in the Lee County Jail, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). She is charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to a child.
The investigation began on October 16th when Simmons drove her unresponsive baby to a local hospital from the Kia Automotive Dealership on Ledo Road in Albany, a city in Southwest Georgia. Doctors at the hospital pronounced the infant, whose name has not been released publicly, dead.
According to reports, Simmons had left the baby inside the car before starting her shift
