SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -No. 16 Iowa State (3-0) flexed its defensive muscles Monday evening, forcing a season-high 26 turnovers, as it dominated Mississippi State (1-1) and handed the Bulldogs their first loss of the season, winning 96-80.
ISU’s 26 turnovers forced are the sixth-most of the T.J. Otzelberger era. Prior to Otz’s arrival, ISU had eight games of 25-plus turnovers forced since 1996-97. Since Otzelberger arrived in 2021-22, ISU has eight such contests. ISU has now forced 18-plus turnovers in three straight contests for the first time since 2023 (FAMU, PVAMU, Iowa). Mississippi State’s 26 turnovers are tied for the most in program history, as it was just the second time under Coach Chris Jans that the team had 20 or more TO.
