Tatsuya Nakadai, one of Japan’s most revered actors known globally for his powerful performances in 'Ran', 'Harakiri', and 'The Human Condition' trilogy, has died at the age of 92.

His death was first reported by The Japan News , though the cause was not immediately disclosed.

Born on December 13, 1932, in Tokyo, Nakadai -- whose real name was Motohisa Nakadai, began his career on stage before becoming one of the most respected and enduring figures in Japanese cinema. With more than a hundred film credits to his name, Nakadai’s versatility and commanding screen presence earned him recognition both in Japan and internationally, particularly for his roles in samurai and historical dramas.
