Delhi-NCR is now under Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), invoked by the government of India on November 11, after days of deteriorating air pollution in the capital.
Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) rose sharply from 362 on Monday to 425 on Tuesday morning after air quality in the capital turned 'severe' on Sunday, November 9.
The implementation of GRAP Stage III by the government of India comes amid citizens protesting for urgent action to ensure better air quality.
This means non-essential construction work will remain banned, stone crushers and mining activities will be shut till the time GRAP Stage III is enforced.
