The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office has come under fire this year for its Community Support Unit after two pursuits ended in fatal crashes in Cleveland.

Yet the sheriff wants to double the unit so it could be deployed to suburbs as well.

And the proposal comes amid a budget crisis, when the county is planning massive cuts to health and human services programs that help local many families.
