The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is predicted to storm back to power in Bihar, according to four exit polls. The Dainik Bhaskar exit poll projects the NDA to win between 145 and 160 seats, while Matrize forecasts 147 to 167 seats. The magic number in the 243-seat Bihar Assembly is 122. However, the new kid on the block, Prashant Kishor, has failed to impress pollsters, with Matrize projecting the JSP’s tally between 0 and 2 seats, while Dainik Bhaskar puts it at 0 to 3.
However, while exit polls offer a tantalising preview of voter sentiment, past elections have shown that the pollsters often get it wrong. Thus, these numbers must be taken with a pinch of salt.
