Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined celebrations in Thimphu to mark the 70th birth anniversary of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan.

Shri Modi extended greetings to the Royal Family, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and dignitaries gathered at the Changlimethang Celebration Ground.

Furthermore, Modi emphasised the deep spiritual and cultural ties between India and Bhutan. He described the relationship as one of values, emotions, peace, and progress. In addition, he invoked India’s ancient ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam —the world is one family—and prayed for universal happiness through the mantra Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah .
