NEW YORK (WBNG) -- The Board of Regents moved to officially adopt new requirements for public school students in grades K-12.
The new requirements include personal finance and climate education, marking Phase 2 of the NY Inspires Plan, an initiative to improve the educational system across the state.
The Department of Education worked with advisory committees with expertise in personal finance education and climate education to identify key topics to be included in the new instruction requirements.
Finance topics will include budgeting and money management, credit and debt management, earning income, and more.
Climate change topics will include causes, impacts and solutions for climate change.
