The Dallas Mavericks have fired general manager Nico Harrison , effective immediately, the team announced on Tuesday.

The team appointed Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi as co-interim general managers while the team searches for a replacement.

In a letter to fans , Mavs owner Patrick Dumont said that no one associated with the organization is happy with the start of what they thought would be "a promising season."

"When the results don't meet expectations, it's my responsibility to act," Dumont said. "I've made the decision to part ways with General Manager Nico Harrison."

This comes after uproar over Luka Doncic 's shocking trade to the Los Angeles Lakers in February.
