Perth Wildcats must double team Bryce Cotton at every opportunity during Sunday’s massive clash against Adelaide 36ers, with coach John Rillie urged to make the most of his taller players to smother the five-time NBL MVP.
Cotton will face off against his former club for the first time when they meet at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The brilliant guard is averaging 28 points per game in his first year as a 36er, including a season-high 53 points last month.
But Sydney put a huge emphasis on not allowing Cotton to shoot the ball earlier in the season, sending multiple defenders to him so he had to pass. Cotton scored only seven points that day.
NBL expert Damon Lowery said the Wildcats must copy that plan.
