Once a medical college lecturer with a promising career, Dr Shaheen Shahid, arrested from Faridabad last week, has emerged as a key figure in what investigators describe as a “white-collar” terror module linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

According to initial probe, Dr Shaheen was allegedly tasked with establishing and leading JeM’s women’s wing in India, under the banner of Jamaat-ul-Momineen, a newly launched female recruitment and operations network of the banned outfit.

Preliminary investigation suggests Dr Shaheen was working to set up a women-led radicalisation and recruitment network on Indian soil.
