New Department for Work and Pensions data has been released.
Fresh statistics show the number of households claiming Universal Credit (UC) who aren't required to work has surged by more than one million in a year, reports MirrorOnline.
As of October, there were four million people in this category, accounting for almost half (48.7%) of all claimants.

UC is a benefit designed to assist with living costs and is available for low-income workers, alongside those who are unemployed or unable to work.
The "no work requirements" group can include full-time students, people over the state pension age, parents
