Dame Jilly Cooper's cause of death has been confirmed following news of her passing at the beginning of October.

An inquest today (November 11) concluded the cause of the author's death was due to accidental death, with Katy Skerrett, senior coroner for Gloucestershire determining the 88-year-old died as a result of a traumatic subdural haematoma.

The writer known for her books including Riders, Rivals and Polo was found by her family at her home in Bisley at around 5pm on October 4.

She had fallen over and ultimately suffered a fatal head injury. On October 5 at 5.30am, Dame Jilly died in hospital surrounded by her family.
