Even as Congress moves to end the government shutdown, flight disruptions at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport and across the nation continue to escalate.
At least 60 flights scheduled to land at or depart Harry Reid on Tuesday have been canceled as the Federal Aviation Administration’s emergency air traffic reduction order reached new levels, leaving travelers and airlines grappling with congested terminals and mounting delays.
The FAA’s order — which began Friday with a 4% cut in operations at 40 major airports and is scaling up to 10% — was issued in response to an acute shortage of air traffic controllers amid the shutdown.
Airlines affected at Harry Reid include Southwest, American, United, Delta and Frontier, with flights to and from Los Angeles, San Diego, Salt Lake Cit
