Coinciding with the “Jatiya Gaurav Varsh Fortnight,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday distributed forest land title deeds to 4,673 tribal families at a programme held at Pantan High School playground in Chaygaon, Kamrup district.
The beneficiaries include families from Garo, Rabha, Bodo, and Karbi communities residing in reserved forest areas under East and West Divisions of Forest which includes Lokhara, Bondapara, Kulshi, Loharghat, Bamunigaon, Boko, and Singra forest ranges.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the initiative was part of the government’s ongoing effort to secure land rights for tribal families who have lived in forest areas for generations.
