(KRON) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in San Jose on Monday that killed a motorcyclist and injured a driver.

The motorcyclist’s 2001 Yamaha Road Star began to fishtail in the southbound lanes, just north of Capitol Expressway, at 8:46 p.m. and eventually overturned, according to authorities. The motorcycle and the rider came to a rest on the highway where they were struck by a 2018 Kia, causing the Kia to overturn.

After the Kia hit the downed motorcycle, the motorcycle was pushed into a 2023 Tesla that had stopped at the scene, CHP said.

The motorcyclist, a 43-year-old Gustine man, was killed in the crash. The driver of the Kia had minor injuries.
