POLK COUNTY, Iowa —

Toys for Tots sign-up is now open in Polk County, following Des Moines Parks and Recreation's approval to serve as an official distribution site.

There were some concerns about the sign-up availability due to the government shutdown.

Families can now register to receive toys for children ages 14 and under. The last day to sign up is Nov. 30.

The two pick-up locations available in Des Moines are the Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center, 2100 SE 5th St., and the Fourmile Community Recreation Center, 3711 Easton Blvd.

Toy pick-up hours at those locations are:

Noon-6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15

3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16

Noon-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17
