NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The family of 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante, who was killed in the January shooting at Antioch High School, was awarded $300,000 in a settlement from a lawsuit against Metro Nashville Public Schools and the Metro Nashville Government.
Corea Escalante was shot and killed in the school’s cafeteria by 17-year-old Solomon Henderson, who later turned the gun on himself on January 22.
The Metro Nashville Police Department determined there was no connection between the two or the other student injured in the shooting.
The lawsuit, filed in June, argued that the school district should have known that Henderson had shown violent activity based on past actions and should have taken steps to protect students.
