Just hours after being sworn in as the new US Ambassador to India by President Donald Trump at the White House, Sergio Gor pledged to strengthen strategic and economic ties between Washington and New Delhi, calling the relationship "vitally important".

Speaking in his first on-camera interview since his appointment, Ambassador Gor told India Today at a reception held in his honour at the Kennedy Center that both President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi share a "remarkable chemistry" and a "strong personal bond" that will guide the next phase of bilateral engagement.
