Iswitched from using Chemex paper filters for my pour-over coffee to a stainless filter. It works great, but it needs to be cleaned every week or so. I use citric acid.
Whenever my coffee starts to taste off, I mix about one tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup of hot water into a large glass bowl. I drop the coffee filter in for around 30 minutes. A light scrub with a plastic brush under running water to rinse it off, and I am back to wonderful tasting coffee.
The stainless filter makes coffee that is slightly less smooth and a bit more bitter or bold than the traditional Chemex filter. I felt bad about how much paper was wasted by my coffee habit, however, and wanted to try the permanent filter. I have not looked back. 00:00/29:28 10
