Despite the wind chill making the morning feel like -11 C Tuesday, hundreds gathered together for Remembrance Day at the cenotaph in Cornwall’s Legion Memorial Park to honour individuals who have served in military conflicts.
President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297 Marvin Plumadore thanked the crowd for attending the ceremony despite the weather, speaking as thick snowflurries swirled in the chilling wind around those who stood in the park and along Second Street West.
“Our veterans spent over 648 days fighting in this type of weather; mud, ice, freezing rain, snow,” said Plumadore. “So we are here today to thank them for what they have done. Our freedom is something we can never take for granted.”
Rev. Rory MacDonald spoke to the crowd and led a prayer during the ceremony. He
