Central Alabama celebrated Veterans Day on Nov. 11 with parades, flags, marching bands and wreath-layings.
The day started with a crowd gathering in near-freezing temperatures to wave flags and cheer on Montgomery’s Veterans Day parade at 10 a.m. downtown, with the route going down historic Dexter Avenue. Following the parade there was a resource fair for veterans and the city’s Veterans Day observance at Riverwalk Stadium.
In Prattville, a crowd gathered on the grounds of the Autauga County Courthouse for the city’s observance. The ceremony included a wreath-laying in honor of veterans and remarks by city officials.
