The Government has issued a major update on awarding compensation to the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) organisation after previously denying a payout.

Ministers are set to revisit their decision not to award compensation to the WASPI women, Pat McFadden has informed the Commons.

The Work and Pensions Secretary stated that the Government would reconsider its previous decision to deny compensation to women born in the 1950s, who saw their state pension age increased to align with men's.

He mentioned that "evidence" which was not presented to his predecessor Liz Kendall when she made the decision last December had since emerged and needed to be taken into account.
