Two key independents who will prove crucial in deciding whether Hobart's waterfront stadium, and ultimately AFL team, become a reality have raised serious concerns about the viability of the project.
Tasmania's lower house is expected to pass the $1.13 billion Macquarie Point stadium later this week.
The state's planning commission recommended in September that the project not go ahead, arguing its "disbenefits" outweighed its benefits, but it is parliament that will have the final say.
Both major parties are backing the project, which means it has the numbers to easily pass the lower house.
However, the state's upper house is ruled by independents, and to pass, at least three of them will need to support the project.
