RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A community of military veterans, their families and friends will gather at the Richmond Marathon to honor fallen service members through running and remembrance.
Wear Blue: Run to Remember will hold a Circle of Remembrance at 6:30 a.m. on race day at the intersection of North 4th and East Broad streets , between where the Richmond Marathon and half marathon are set to start.
“We are inviting the race community to join us in one of our most sacred acts, which is called the Circle of Remembrance,” said Melynda Weaver, chief development officer for Wear Blue: Run to Remember. “And we’re going to speak the names of our fallen, right, who are we taking purposeful steps for?”
Weaver has been involved with the organization for the past decade as a military spouse.
