COLUMBUS, Ohio — Partial SNAP benefits begin going out to Ohio families on Wednesday, but many will see less money than usual as the effects of the six-week government shutdown continue to ripple across the state.
At the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, the demand for food has surged.
Food is coming and going quickly from the shelves, and the organization said the last six weeks have been nonstop.
“People day-to-day have been wondering, 'Where is my next meal going to come from? How will I feed my kids?' These are real questions people are wondering on a daily basis,” said Mike Hochron with the Mid-Ohio Food Collective.
Food pantries across central Ohio have been overwhelmed with families reaching out for help. But now, partial SNAP benefits are on the way.
