A major road has been closed by police after a lorry left the carriageway and landed in a ditch.

National Highways say police have responded to the collision in Kent in the early hours of Wednesday morning, November 12. The A259 in East Sussex was closed in both directions between the A2070 (Brenzett) and A268 (Rye).

Specialist recovery services were making their way to the scene. National Highways warned road users to expect delays .

"If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey," National Highways said.

Eastbound traffic was instructed to follow the westbound diversion route in reverse.
