The NSW government has been forced to clarify laws that left one woman concerned she would not be buried next to her late husband on their farm in the state's Riverina region. 

Gaye Wheatley and her husband, Ned, spent decades of their lives planting native trees and plants on their property in West Wyalong. 

When he passed away, the family buried him on the land.

The state classifies almost half of the Wheatley property as being native vegetation, according to new rules in 2018, raising fears among the family that Wheatley may not be able to be laid to rest beside her husband.

The family's representative, Annabelle Davis, told 2GB the family are one of the victims of those laws.

"Not one landholder was directly contacted about this change of their land use," Davis said.
