THETFORD, Vt. – Three high school juniors from the northwestern part of this state turned in stellar performances at last Saturday afternoon’s 90th annual New England Interscholastic Championships at Thetford Academy’s hilly 3.1-mile course.
Scituate native Mackenzie Lickert, who attends St. Raphael Academy, was the fourth-fastest runner from Rhode Island at this regional meet, as she took 30th place out of 250 runners in a time of 20:09.81, and 8 1/2 seconds behind her in 32nd place was Smithfield resident Alyssa Parenteau, who ran for La Salle Academy.
The good news out of Vermont continued when North Smithfield High’s Julia Dowling finished 54th in a time of 20:36.65. She had placed 90th last season when she made school history as the first N.S. runner to compete at the New England me
