You probably woke up this morning, checked your favourite social media site and were soon scrolling through a beautiful tapestry of photos captured in Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning's sky. The Northern Lights were on full display once again, and this time around showcased a somewhat rare combination of colours, including red and pink.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Centre, the stunning display is due to what's believed to have been the arrival of the first two of three anticipated coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from the sun. The third is expected to arrive mid-day, but due to the sun being up, we won't see any Aurora Borealis at that time.
