The Phoenix Police Department has repeatedly said it is not involved in federal deportation activities ― but some of its law enforcement actions could and do land people in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Phoenix police called ICE three times this year after finding that someone they stopped had a criminal deportation warrant. Those people were accused of felony reentry and now face deportation, according to federal court records.
