HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A fire in Hagerstown late Tuesday left one person dead. Crews are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
Crews from the Hagerstown Fire Department responded to the call around 11:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Chimneystone Court, not far from the Hagerstown YMCA.
Firefighters found the victim in the home where the fire started. The remains have been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where they will be identified.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and State Fire Marshals have cleared the scene as of 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. No further injuries have been reported
Investigators believe the fire began in the kitchen.
They say no working smoke alarms were found inside the home.
No additional injuries were reported.
