A wrong-way driver was struck by a vehicle after crashing Tuesday evening on Interstate 25 south of Santa Fe, New Mexico State Police confirmed.
The agency did not provide details about the person who was struck or their condition Wednesday morning.
Police were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. in response to a report of a wrong-way driver near La Bajada, driving north in the southbound lanes of I-25, state police Officer Amanda Richards wrote in an email. Upon arrival, officers learned the driver had crashed into a guardrail, got out of the vehicle and was then struck on the highway, she wrote.
The crash, which had shut down the highway for several hours, was still under investigation Wednesday, Richards added.
