A woman charged with fatally shooting the father of her sister’s children at his Birmingham home did so out of revenge and retribution, Jefferson County prosecutors contend.

But the woman’s attorney said she fired warning shots at a man who had previously “jumped on” her sister and did not intend to kill anyone.

Brittney Watson, 26, of Brighton, is charged with murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling in the Saturday slaying of 30-year-old Anson Quandarius Henderson.

Watson, who has been in jail since the weekend killing, appeared Wednesday before Jefferson County Circuit Judge Kandice Pickett for an Aniah’s Law bond hearing,
