A British man accused of causing a fatal crash while fleeing police in Gloucester County on Sunday night made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

While he was originally identified by police as Steve Hall , 28, of Waltham Cross, United Kingdom, he has now been identified by prosecutors as George Leonard, Judge Teri Giordano said during the hearing.

The judge said a new complaint may be issued for him under his correct name. But Giordano did not say why police originally thought Leonard’s name was Steve Hall.

“It sounds like there may be a new complaint that may be filed as you were originally identified as Steve Hall. However, the state now has information that your name is actually George Leonard,” Giordano said. “So you may receive a new complaint and may need to be proc
