HARRISBURG, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - It’s an exciting time in Harrisburg as the marching band is preparing for the big trip to the Aloha State.
For some band members, they couldn’t believe it.
“I was very confused, like, is this a joke?” said Junior Kamryn Denhoed.
For others, they saw an amazing moment ahead.
“It’s definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you get to go and be a part of,” said Junior Lila Anderson.
Director Jason Groon says the band went through multiple applications before being selected, and he knows the excitement and challenges ahead.
“Practicing marching band in late November and early December presents challenges, but when the payoff is marching in Hawaii a few weeks later, I think everybody will be up for the challenge,” Groon said.
