As we continue to see online shopping cut into the business of brick and mortar stores, we are seeing more retail chains make changes meant to provide their customers with a better shopping experience.
Recently, Walmart announced a new AI feature called Sparky on its app that was meant to provide shoppers with helpful information while they are shopping. Weather forecasts and traffic alerts for the trip to popular attractions, for example.
We have also seen several major retail chains backpedal on the use of self-checkout kiosk. While not getting rid of them altogether, many have started limiting the number of kiosks in operation at any given time and scheduling more people to work their checkout lines.
